TFAA received almost 400 paintings from regional artists. I was charged by the organizers of the exhibition to select works which I believed were “the best of what has been submitted,” and demonstrated, “artistic vision and integrity.” The difficulty was not in fulfilling my charge, as there were a great number of excellent paintings from which to choose; my challenge lay in reducing the number works that could be shown to conform to the limitations of the physical space. Fortunately, with the assistance of TFAA volunteers and their experience in installing work in the gallery, we were able to slightly increase the number of entries that will be exhibited. The end-result is a group exhibition consisting of incredibly talented DMV-regional artists who have mastered the time-honored tradition of painting in all of its forms.
